Ava and Mateo's fathers were best friends and businessmen together. Their families had villas in Spain right next to each other so Mateo and Ava saw each other on occasion. Her mother forced her to live in NYC in order to control the money her father would send. Though worth billions, her mother always found a way to try and control her father's access and Ava was caught in the middle. Ava had a crush on Alejandro, not Mateo during her teenage years. When she was almost 18 and saw Mateo after almost a year, she wondered how she never noticed how attractive he was. Mateo is shocked at how grown up Ava has become and sets about getting to know her. Ava and Mateo are estranged when the book begins and it takes most of the book to find out why. Ava questions their whole relationship and Mateo sets out to prove that she knows he loves her, has never strayed from her and she was told lies. It was interesting how he would have to show great patience because she acted like a spoiled child at times. She wanted him to leave her alone but then would get mad if he didn't show her attention. She had suffered a TBI (traumatic brain injury) and was refusing to remember what transpired the day of her accident out of pure stubbornness. Mateo tries his best to back off but knows she needs to be in his life and that her living without him is not an option. Ava does finally come around after a fainting spell and realizes that life is short and she shouldn't play games. The rest of the story deals with their moving forward in their relationship, along with her memories of the day of the accident coming back to her in pieces. So I'm not going to give away the storyline but I want everyone to know what I thought about it.
First of all, I've been a HUGE fan of Ella Fox since her very first book was published. I have read them all and think she is a fantabulous author LOL!
This book.... W.O.W....
The connection and love I felt for these characters was like I knew them. There were so many times I was at the edge of my seat and couldn't read fast enough to find out what happened in different scenes. Things you never even see coming! I was enthralled with the entire book. It is definitely worth checking out!
I can't wait for the rest of the series! You get to know everyone in the story and I want to see what she has in store for all of them.

If you love Spain, you will love Mateo. I thought he was the book. He was an amazing character. So, when you're starting a new series sometimes you get thrown the whole kitchen sink at you because the author obviously is setting the family up. I didn't mind that here at all. That was perfectly enjoyable & important.
What thru me off was the first 3 chapters, I almost gave up. I truly struggled to understand what was going on. I went into it cold, it's one of the few times I wish I'd read reviews because partial amnesia plays a huge part & if I'd really understood that right away I would of enjoyed it more. Now, given that once I got 25% in all was clear and we go in and out of time for 4 years as things unfold & I thought it quite clever.
Our H was AWESOME. He was kind and sweet and strong. They clearly loved each other and it's a story about never giving up on the one you love. Takes til literally the last chapter for it to all come together but I enjoyed it & ended up loving the younger Avelina very much and forgiving the awful Avelina that's told in present day.
A story of Spain, of family, and second chances. Recommend. I'll follow the series.
I'm a huge fan of Ella Fox's writing, so it wasn't a surprise to me that I Don't was a hit and that I fell in love with Ava and Mateo's story!
I will admit, I wasn't sure what exactly I was going to get into with this book, the blurb had me intrigued, and as I started reading it, I was drawn to Ava's character, but wasn't quite sure how I felt about Mateo, but don't worry, he grew on me! These two definitely have an undeniable connection, but something made Ava run, and as the story progresses we get to see into the past and what brought these two together, and the undeniable bond and love that these two share, which only makes it more confusing as to why they are apart now.
Watching Ava try to fight off Mateo and her feelings for him throughout this book and not knowing why was hard. As I started to see how much he truly does love her and how he never really was away from her even though she pushed him away, I wanted to strangle her for pushing him away. The love this man has for her is undeniable and he would do and has done anything to prove his love for her. I loved watching the sneaks into the past and seeing these two find each other and how close they became, everyone knew they belonged together and was so accepting of them. Seeing how much they survived together, and everything they've been through solidified in my head that they belonged together, so I couldn't figure out what made her run. When it was finally revealed, I understand why she let that day be forgotten and wanted to just forget, but I am still so angry with her for pushing Mateo away!
This was a really beautiful story about love, redemption, forgiveness and finding your soulmate. It had times where I wanted to scream, cry, and also times where I was fanning myself with my because Ava and Mateo are just HOT together. Their love for one another, past, present and future is undeniable and EPIC!
I truly enjoyed this story, but I just felt that the ending was a bit too rushed. Since this is a series with each brother getting their own story, I'm hoping that we will get to see more of Ava and Mateo in future books, but I would have liked to have seen more of Ava and Mateo after the big reveal. I do highly recommend adding this one to your TBR list! I couldn't put it down!
